Download the BIOS file and Save it.  Make sure you are plugged into AC.  Close all programs then right click on it and Run As Admin.  Reboot when done.

I don't know about Driver Detect but if you download

Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver and Management Console it works the same way.  Expect the other two that it found will work the same way.

Thanks. My concern was to understand the procedure required between manual installation of the BIOS file and the automatic installation of the others. It clearly states BIOS is a manual install. I'm trying to google it. Does it mean that I can - as you described in your last post - simply right click and run as administrator then reboot for each of the others in turn but that for the manual BIOS install something else entirely needs to happen? Do I need to do something like this: https://au.answers.a...dows-vista-or-7. Please advise, thank you very much.

Panic over. I installed the BIOS and two of the three other Dell SupportAssist drivers. Despite repeated tries to install Intel Chipset Device Software Driver, SupportAssist still lists it as needing to be installed. I've run it twice and it's still showing this. I don't know if this helps you but I've done a snip on Latency Monitor for the hardpage dafaults and devices. Thank you. I sense light at the end of the tunnel.

I forgot about Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver and Management Console but have now installed it. When I fire up Opera and go to my bookmarked geekstogo thread for example, it hangs for a number of seconds before finally opening.

CCleaner does not need to be running.  Uninstall it.  Also uninstall the Intel Driver and Support Assistant.

Did you try the latest Qualcomm update from Dell?

Rerun VEW for both System & Application and post both logs.

Thank you. Have deleted CCleaner and Intel Driver Support. Gone. But I see from Revo Uninstaller listing that I still have Dell SupportAssistant and another Intel thing called Intel Computing Improvement Program: should I get rid? Regarding the Qualcomm update from Dell: sorry but I don't know how to know the answer to that.

The Qualcomm driver was updated today so try downloading and installing it:

https://www.dell.com...-14-3478-laptop

You can remove Dell SupportAssistant and Intel Computing Improvement Program if you want to.  There may be a couple of Dell programs that use the Support Assistant but as it hasn't been keeping you uptodate I don't think it's worth much.

Thank you. Downloaded and installed. (To be fair to Dell, I only just the other day installed SupportAssistant and used it for the first time. I hadn't had it on my system before then. So I'll keep it for a bit). Do you need any latency monitor logs?

When I right click to run that Qualcomm as Administrator, it gave me a choice of Modify, Repair or Remove. I chose modify. Don't know if that was correct because I was expecting a whole new install, not a modification. Thank you very much.

Are you sure you were on the qualcomm download?  Sounds like you were in Control Panel/Programs & Features.

Clicked the link you posted which brought me to here: https://www.dell.com/support/home/it/it/itbsdt1/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=4747j&oscode=wt64a&productcode=vostro-14-3478-laptop. Titled: Driver Qualcomm QCA61x4A/QCA9377 WiFi e Bluetooth Downloaded it. Right clicked to Run as Administrator. Says install or update: then it opens to Qualcomm Installer Package with those three options: Modify, Repair or Remove.

I downloaded the file from:

https://downloads.de...0.0.916_A33.EXE

and it gave me the usual option to Run as Admin.  It might say modify repair or delete once I run it but I don't have it on my PC so that's as far as I can go.

Go into Device Manager and look at the date on your Qualcomm as before.  What does it say?

Thank you very much. It says: Driver Date: 8/8/2019 BUT Driver Version: 12.0.0.916 (which is the latest one I believe, right?).

Guess it's the right driver then.

What does the summary page from Latency Monitor say?

Thank you. Not sure whether by "Summary Page" you mean processes, drivers or something else so I've snipped them both and copied the gist of what's on the first screen when you open LatencyMonitor.

The first opening screen says: Your system may have difficulty handling real-time audio or other tasks. Drop-outs clicks or pops due to buffer over-runs. One or more DPC routines belonging to a driver in your system executing too long. One problem may be related to power management: disable CPU throttling settings in control panel and BIOS set up. Check for BIOS updates.
