I have a UMX U683CL that seems to be draining its battery very fast. It only lasts a few hours off the charger before I am dangerously low on battery power. Anything I can do to resolve this? I was out of the house for 5 hours and I was down to 25 percent battery life. I don't know know its a software or hardware problem so I posted here, if a mod feels it should be moved feel free to move it.

How old is the device?   It is not unusual for phone batteries to stop holding charge well after several years of use.

What do you have turned on in settings?   WiFi can eat tons of battery power if there is no WiFi network available and the device keeps cyclically scanning to find one that's available.  Mobile Hotspot can eat tons of battery life if something is actually using the mobile hotspot feature as internet access.  Bluetooth to a lesser extent.

About 6 months is my guess for how old it is.

All I can recommend is what I said above as well as going in to Settings for your phone and searching on "background" (which may or may not return anything) and "apps" to see what controls are shown in the list for apps.

My "flavor" of Android has "Battery & Performance" settings that allow me to limit battery for apps that I don't use often.  Id also has an App Battery Saver that allows me to tell it to put specific apps into sleep mode after they have not been in use for a period of time.

Most versions of Android have such controls, but their exact names and functions can and do vary slightly.  You have to go on a settings search and see what you find.

I entered the settings menu and found a battery saver mode, but still the phone drains the battery power (not as fast as before, but still the phone doesn't hold more than 7 hours).

I don't know if you noticed, but when you take the phone off the charger and do a hard reboot the battery power goes down more than 20% within 15 seconds. Do a regular reboot and the battery don't go down fast, it's about a percentage in less than 2 minutes, and this isn't the only Assurance Wireless model that does that.
