I have just noticed my Windows update is not working and that I have no windows restore points! Yesterday I updated some drivers with Driver update and also ran Advanced System Care, then I figured I would also check for windows updates...apparenty, all attempted windows updates since 30.08.2019 are "failed". So this seems to be an older problem....Also, FileHippoAppManager is no working anymore, so I can't update programs automatically (but I read this seems to be a software problem).
I first tried to do a Windows restore (I figured the Driver updates might have messed with my windows updates), but, surprise, there were no restore points. It said "no restore points have been created on your computer's system drive". I saw there was checked "turn off system protection", I cheched to allow for restore points. As I try to create a restore point on my Windows (C:) drive, I receive the message "A volume shadow copy service component encountered an unexpected error. Check the application event log for more information (0x80042302). I checked the services.msc and Volume Shadow Copy was not started, I started it, but windows restore is still not working.
I also tried to run an Avira virus scan. Avira icon showed in the bar, but Avira would not start. So I reinstalled Avira and ran a short check, but it found nothing. I also ran ESET scanner, it may have found something, but it didn't solve the update and restore problems.
Edit: I notice COM+ Event System is disabled. I enable it and restart windows, now windows update is working! As Windows update is running, it also seems that a new restore point is created with the windows update.
My computer seems to be working normally though, there are no slowdowns. If I had not checked for Windows updates, I would still be convinced everything is ok... But I wonder what caused these services to become disabled, maybe it is a virus?
Please help! Thank you!
