I noticed that in Enhanced Tracking, none had been selected. After I clicked in Standard, now I can see ads on some sites that previously were blank areas. The box for block popup is checked. Is there any way to revert this choice or a way to block seeing these distracting ads?

I was curious if there was a way to just reverse or disable my choice? I looked around and found instructions on a Mozilla site that say this:
but I don't see the "switch" they mention to tap to turn it off.

Looks like the info you have is out of date. Firefox does not use Settings button. Instead it's Options. You might want to check that you have the latest version. Click on the three horizontal lines (not dots as in your article) in the upper right hand corner then on Help then on About Firefox. It should say 72.0.1
I'd say your original Firefox didn't really install correctly.
If you think Ublock Origin is blocking something you need, then just click on its Icon then click on the big off/on button. Reload the site.
I don't even have Flash on my Firefox as it's pretty much obsolete. There is a Plugin called Shockwave Flash. It has two options. Ask and Never.

I have Firefox version 72.0.1, but my terminology may not be accurate.
I do have Shockwave as an add-on. The only other items there is Widevine Decryption Module.
I was wondering if selecting another option under Enhanced Tracking Protection might help since I am not sure what changed when I opted for Standard. Before I chose that option, I was not seeing any banner or sidebar ads and I didn't have any ad blockers installed. I am trying to work around installing things.
Perhaps after tomorrow, it will all be moot anyway (Windows 7 user).

Just a comment on making Windows 7 obsolete - why fix something if it ain't broken? Or is it?

No more security upgrades from Windows after tomorrow. Eventually you will see the anti-virus and browser companies moving away from supporting Win 7.

Just click on the Ublock Origin shield while on the website and turn of adblocking then refresh the site.

And that will only disable it for that particular site?

Once you disable Ublock you have to reload the site
