Hello,

 

for about 4 weeks now my desktop is loading websites very slowly. It might coincide with me having uninstalled a program.

Don't remember which one.

 

My computer runs on Windows 8.1 and has 64 bits.

 

What could I do?

My computer is on 24/7 and I do a lot of web searches dealing with my geneology. When it slows done and takes a lot of time to load I just close everything out and reboot the computer.

Well, I was too quick, the problem came back even worse. No website is loading. Did some research online and decided to ‘restart’ my computer. Like 123runner suggested as well.

Unfortunately that process of restarting is taking 10 min. so far, and I will let it run another 15 min and then turn the desktop off
by pressing the start button continuously for a minute or so until the computer is turned off.

However, that probably won’t solve the problem. Any ideas anybody? Shall I move the thread to another forum?

Let it reset / reboot don't interrupt it that's never a good idea. Let us know how it is after that.

Unfortunately your kind advise came too late. I pressed and held the on button until computer had been turned off.

Firefox is loading fast now, Malwarebytes did a scan and everything was fine.

Nothing outstanding there and we cleared out the DNS cache, sometimes that helps web an web site connections.

 

Is Firefox still slow connecting ? Any errors ?

 

Before you call it a nite. restart the computer and just let it go through its process.
