Hey guys,

 

Question:  Why is it that on my viewsonic monitor I can either have Freesync active OR 1ms response active and not both?

 

Also in 2 weeks I am aiming to get and RTX from MSI or gigabyte, and I am wonder, since this have G-Sync is that truely compatible with freesync?  Yes i do know that G-Sync is Nvidia and freesync is AMD.

Viewsonic explanation as to why you cannot have both functions at the same time.

 

MPRT and FreeSync are incompatible with each other because: MPRT will KEEP the refresh rate at a high and constant point. FreeSync will CHANGE the refresh rate continuously in a range between the minimum and maximum rate of the monitor. Therefore, all ViewSonic monitors that have MPRT(1ms) and FreeSync are not able to have both functions turned on at the same time.

Thank you, so what one is better to use?  Freesync or 1ms?

It depends on the use, if watching online videos etc 1ms but when gaming using an AMD card Freesync as the latter is specifically intended to work hand in hand to improve the GPUs performance.
