Hello, helpful geeks,

I am running a system on Windows ME (I know, I know - I'm upgrading to XP but in order to do so, I have to solve this problem first).

Any attempt to open anything using Windows Explorer, crashes with the following message:

Explorer caused an error in SHPRRPRT.DLL.

and the window doesn't display. This includes Windows Explorer, Control Panel, My Computer...anything. Obviously, navigating around the system is something of a chore.

Does anyone have any ideas on this, or should I go the HJT route (following as much system/adware cleanup as possible first)?

Thanks awfully.

If you can get here, install ad-aware, spybot and spywareblaster

http://www.filehippo...re/antispyware/

Update them before running

Run Panda Scan

http://www.pandasoft....com/activescan

If you still get the error, please go here

Run all the programmes as advised and then post a current Hijack This log to the Malware Section

Thanks! That did the trick!

As I said, I'm going to scratch and reload to XP anyway. But this will allow me to effectively back up my data beforehand.

Thanks again. You guys are the best!
