Hi

I want to use the Stereo Mix feature of Realtek HD Audio for an online music quiz I am hosting for friends during lockdown using Skype.  My Lenovo laptop uses Conexant SmartAudio HD on Windows 8.1, and so I downloaded Realtek HD Audio, and can now see it in the Sound, Video and Game controllers section of Device Manager.  However, it has an exclamation mark on a yellow ground next to it, and when I try to start it, I get the message "This device cannot start. (Code 10).  The request is not supported".  I have tried various things suggested from browser searches, none of which have worked.  Am I wasting my time?

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for that.  Yes, I have tried all those, and they were no good.  It looks like the problem is more fundamental - if the laptop came loaded with Conexant Audio, even though they have gone out of business, you can't install Realtel HD Audio.

That's probably correct because of the rest of the chip set on the motherboard. :(
