Hello!!

My mother has a Gateway Laptop NV77H21u that is in need of more RAM. So I did some research found out the max memory supported which happens to be 8 GB, she currently has 4 GB. Now I don't have an over abundance of experience but many times I have opened up my laptops for one reason or the other so I saw no problem here. So I accessed the area that has the RAM so I could get the information off of the stick and basically order the exact thing, no fuss no muss, right? Wrong! I put it back exactly as I took it out, closed it up, turned it on and now all she has is a black [bleep] screen......what the frig did I do?

Hello thefunkymunky,

You may have put it back incorrectly where it's just not seated correctly, try taking it out an putting it back in again.

Zep516!

Thank you for responding back. Let me ask you, will it like make a clicking or snapping sound when it's in correctly?

I would think it would, but it's possible that it does not.... maybe we can find a video on it if we Google " replace ram on Gateway Laptop NV77H21u"

I know only 1 way to go in, but sometimes they don't seat correctly, you know like a light bulb that isn't screwed in tight. So take em out and put it back in.

If that does not work it's very possible they have been damaged and may need replacing :(
