I have a WD TV LIVE media player that that is no longer really needed. There are music and photos that I would like to get off and put on my PC I have hooked it up to my computer using a cable with USB ports on each end.  It is not detected in file explorer while my two WD external hard drives are. Was told that that arrangement would not work - had to use internet.

This is a second problem. All of a sudden after being moved from one room to another, the WD would not make an wireless internet connection. Next it was hooked up with an Ethernet cable to the router.Still no connection.

All the help I was able to read discussed adding files from PC to WD TV and how to solve problems of PC not detecting the connection.

Any ideas of what I can try next.

Yhanks

Hello bigdogalex,

Turn off router (unplug) modem if there is none. Let them off for a few mins. At this time I would also restart the pc or laptop.

Then re-plug router in and modem if there is one. If this does not work or you have already tried it i then suggest you visit the WD community web site for possible help, See link below:

Hope you don`t mind me chiming in folks  :)

Do you have the WD Link Tool installed, if not, you can download it from here not sure what OS you have but if Windows 10 check downloads here as the first link only lists up to Windows 8.

If the device still cannot be detected, you could remove the HDD and fit it into another computer or alternatively use a USB HDD adaptor or enclosure, see info here
