I recently installed win 10 on my desktop computer,it did not install properly so I went back to win 7 64 bit. Now with win7 64 bit my modem speed is reduced to .01 from 50. I went back to win 10 64 and got it up and running fine with normal internet speed. After a couple weeks use I found I hated win 10. Re installed win7 64 bit and same issue, super slow internet speed. I did 6 installs all with same results. I'm running an MSI motherboard Z170A. Could this be the issue that the M/B is screwed up. I tried to see if MSI has a new driver upgrade but the support was so bad I did not get any where. I tried bypassing the onboard ethernet card with a wifi connection, with no luck. Then I installed an ethernet card on motherboard with no luck. My service provided sent me a new modem and still no speed on my comp with win 7. Can anybody tell my why I can't run win 7 on this comp anymore?

Probably needs a different (older) network driver but have you tried using Open Shell with Windows 10? Makes Win 10 look and feel like Win 7.

Save, then right click and Run As Admin.
If you insist on sticking with Win 7 then search for
device manager
hit Enter
click on the arrow in front of Network Adapters
Your current adapter will be one of the top two on the list. (One is for your WiFi and the other for your wired connection). What does it call the one you use?
Right click on the one you use and select Properties then Details. Change the "Device Description" to "Hardware IDs" Right click on the top entry and Copy then come back here, start a reply and Ctrl + v to paste the copied entry into the reply.

Ya I tried open shell and the desktop looks like win 7 but then you get into it and its win 10. The info I'm going to past is from an ethernet card I installed to by pass the on board one.

Lately when I try a new win 7 install, I may have to do it 2 or 3 times as it does now accept the serial number. I thought the disk was the issue but my win 7 64 bit came with a 32 bit and I have same issue with that disk.
I have 2 drives in my desktop, I swap out the win 10 drive when I want to try the win 7 again so I can try anything you suggest easily.

Since you have an external one and a built-in one, make sure you have the correct one. Also make sure the built-in one is Disabled.
Looks like it's an Intel® Ethernet Connection I219-V
Go back into Device Manager and look at the properties again. On the Driver tab it will give you the Version and Date of the driver.
Go to:
https://downloadcent...nnection-I219-V
and look for a version for Windows 7 that is older than what you have. May have to click on Show More.

OK I went back to the on board ethernet card as the driver that came with the motherboard is 3 years older. Still same issue, win 10 runs fine but win 7 a lot lot slower. Takes 5 mins to bring up a home page on my browser.

This looks like it is trying to use a VPN to connect but I don't see VPN software in the installed programs. Let's try resetting your windock & tcpip:
Start, All Programs, Accessories then right click on Command Prompt and Run As Administrator. Type:
netsh winsock reset catalog
hit Enter.
Type:
netsh int ipv4 reset %UserProfile%\desktop\reset.log
hit Enter and reboot.
Any improvement?
Try running Firefox in Safe Mode:

If that helps you probably have a bad extension. In Firefox go to:
about:addons
then disable all of your extensions. Restart and try again. If that helps then turn on a few and restart until you find the culprit.

Ok I go try it. First off its not firefox as when I do the first install of windows I only have Explorer and it takes time to download Firefox. There is no vpn on this drive and the only software other than the Highresolution Enterprise which I use as a double click on my mouse, is what was on my motherboard drivers cd. I do not have any extensions in firefox because it would take to long to download and computer is unusable at that speed to download anything.

Could you post reset.log? It should be on your desktop if you ran the netsh commands.

Get tcpview. https://live.sysinte...com/Tcpview.exeDownload, Save and then run it by right clicking and Run As Admin.
Then File, Save As (to your desktop), tcp , OK. This should create a file tcp.txt on your desktop. Attach or copy and paste it to a reply.
