I am on my 2nd Asus router due to this issue. My Spectrum cable internet is 200Mbps and I get that speed when wired directly to desktop from modem. After booting up and installing my new Asus router and running the cable thru the router I retained the good speed to the desktop until there was a service outage. Once the outage was repaired, the speeds thru the router have been reduced to less than 70. If I reroute the line back to direct from the modem, I get the speed back, so it is obviously a router issue, but I cannot see what changed. I did not change any settings. Firmware is up to date. No manual bandwidth setting are in place. This is the second time this exact thing has happened. Any thoughts?

I would try a factory reset on the router. Usually on the back there is a button or a hole where you stick an unbent paper clip. Exact procedure varies by router but usually it's enough to hold the button down for 10 seconds - sometimes while powering it up. Look up the manual using the router's model number.
If that doesn't help then it probably took some damage from the power outage especially if it was caused by a lightning strike on the power line. When you replace it make sure you have a good surge protector.
