Good decision. Updated list, some changes, always look before ordering. > https://uk.pcpartpic...com/list/KLFT4n Go to the full post »

Go to this page, > https://www.microsof...nload/windows10

Download the file, > then run.

Accept the Microsoft agreement

Select Media Creator, USB.

Choose your language

Architecture 64bit

IMPORTANT.  If on your work computer, unitck the box, "use the recommended options for this Pc.

Radio button (USBflash drive)

> Plug in the USB stick > click next

Should auto detect , if not select from as list.

How has that gone?

Is it possible when doing this I use my laptop key for W10 Pro on my desktop & use my W10 home desktop key on my laptop?

I think no as when activating it will cause more problems and, unless you are managing other computers, you don't need WIP.

Only in Pro, otherwise exactly the same.

WIP helps to protect against potential data leakage without otherwise interfering with the employee experience. WIP also helps to protect enterprise apps and data against accidental data leaks on enterprise-owned devices and personal devices that employees bring to work, without requiring changes to your environment or other apps.

Hello again

I am now posting from my fresh windows install, just so you know where i am here is my process;

Downloaded windows to USB flash drive through the link you provided

Received new M2 SSD Drive & fitted it

Removed OS SSD Drive - fitted it into an external case ....... DID NOT back this drive drive up as it can still be accessed

Turned PC on

Inserted USB Drive

Went into boot menu & booted up through USB

Was asked for W10 Key (all good on that front so far)

Set PC permissions

& here i am!

PC still doing some mildly funny stuff but i assume thats because i haven't downloaded MSI software/Drivers for the new system? - just things like highlighting txt etc, nothing too bad

"stopped responding" meaning that the screen is frozen and trying to use the mouse or keyboard, nothing happens.

Please shut down all applications then restart the computer, and I will post again in about ten minutes.

Providing windows has restarted without problems.

Download then instal and run Live Update, use automatic install which will give you what you need for your computer. > https://au.msi.com/p...update-5-manual

Sorry for my delayed response, i had a small job to do in my garage tonight

No it wasn't unresponsive as such - i could move my mouse, i could type but when i clicked on the post button it obviously functioned correctly hence my double post but on screen it didn't update & show the post in the thread - that's about as best i can describe it.

Starting live update now - 1am here so i may have to catch up later ok if you don't mind?

That's fine.

It must be way past your bedtime.   We can resume some more tweaks tomorrow, i.e. configuring windows update.

When MSI update has finished, you can just shut down for the present.

Perfect motorcycling weather!, maybe even a little warm.

10/11C during the day here now, 3-8c at night & it was raining as I was coming in from the garage.

Sunny old Ireland eh?!
