This is always at the top of my Faceboook timeline (see attached screenshot). Is there a way to get rid of it?

Should be three dots in the upper right of the post.  Click on the dots and you should get an option to Hide it.

I tried that. It just keeps coming back.

Are there any other options when you click the three dots?  Maybe Hide All from ...?  I had a similar thing for a while and somehow managed to make it go away.  I use the free F. B. Purity extension in my browser and it also may help.

Also make sure you have the Ublock Origin extension to block ads.

I have Ublock. There are no 3 dots; nothing to click except the gray X and that only makes it go away until I come back to FB.

Facebook switched me to the new format today and the post you complained about appeared.  I switched back and it went away.  F B Purity now has a check box to make Facebook stay at or revert back to the old format.  (Click on the FBP icon next to the three bars or dots in the upper right of your browser and you will see the option.)

Reverting to the old FB format is only temporary. It eventually goes back to the new FB format.

F B Purity will keep it from switching back maybe even until after the election.

I can vouch for FB Purity. Corrine at Landzdown recommended it to me and I've been using it since. It's a great program if you use FB. I highly recommend it.
