[Class316]

This has me stumped. I am trying to block software from accessing the Internet on this new Windows 10 PC.

Tested it on Internet Explorer. I blocked both Outbound and Inbound for good measure. Yet it does nothing. 

 

What am I doing wrong?

I installed Comodo Firewall and now running both Windows Firewall and Comodo (along with AVG Free). I used Comodo to block the software I want to block. That seems to work. But [bleep] why doesn't Windows Firewall work?

 

Though I think I prefer Comodo tells you what is trying to connect on the fly and you can block forever if you want to. 

 

Is there a point in keeping both Comodo and Windows Firewall?

Having more than one AV or Firewall installed on your computer is bad, it will slow down the computer, cause internet connection problems and leave you with no AV protection at all if they cancel each other out as they fight for resources.

Is the computer a brand name such as Dell or HP etc, if yes, these type of computers ship with all sorts of bloatware such as trial versions of AV and if such a trial AV was already running on the computer it would go some way to explaining why the Windows Firewall may have not been working, also worth mentioning is that many AVs cannot simply be removed in the Control Panel as they need to be properly uninstalled using a program provided by the AV vendor.

There's wasn't much bloatware on it. It was the only firewall before I put AVG. PC is ibuypower 

 

I think I'll go on firewall.cpl and disable windows defender windows and keep AVG and Comodo running. It's an inconvenience to have to allow or block every thing as it runs with Comodo but at least Comodo actually works in blocking access to the Internet.

As long as your computer is protected the best that it can be use whatever AV & firewall that works for you, Windows Defender & Firewall should auto disable as soon as AVG & Comodo Firewall are detected and you should not need to manually disable them only check that they each have been auto disabled by default.

Weird. Windows firewall was still on so I had to disable.
