Hello. I have an Intel® mini-laptop (MG101A3) with Windows XP, I used to adjust the screen brightness with Fn+F8/F7; lowering it when using the battery and increasing it when connected to AC. Now the keyboard is broken and the brightness is low, I can't find a way to adjust the brightness like I used to. I found a tutorial that suggests to adjust the brightness via Intel® graphics app (Adjusting the gamma and contrast) I did it and I don't like how it looks. Some guy suggested me to install Windows 7, I know that would work since W7 can do that easily, but I don't feel like installing it. I'm actually using the mini-laptop with a standard USB keyboard which doesn't have the Fn keys. The question is: Where can I get a on-screen keyboard that includes the Fn keys? Or at least, some free lightweight app to adjust the brightness.

Gamma and Contrast are not what you want.  Try the procedure here:

Umm... I followed the link you suggested but it... still don't look as good as when the Fn key could be used. Increasing the brightness makes the screen look like "saturated"

The color settings on these things can only be accessed via Intel's app.

I have 2 of these mini laptops (The other one runs Win7, screen brightness ok), I compared the settings on both PCs and both are the same (See screenshots), but still the laptop with WinXP is darker. Maybe the brightness level is stored somewhere else?

Both laptops have a broken keyboard, so I can't just swap them.

Here's a screenshot of what the settings look like:

Here you can see how these things look like MG101A3 (Intel® powered classmate pc)

Also, sorry for the double post, it wasn't my intention. The dǢmn internet is slow as &%@! so I have to reload the pages, that's when the double post occurs.

Can't see any difference.  You might check the Control Panel, Power Options.  Some of the power plans limit the screen brightness.

Replacing a bad keyboard looks like an easy job if you want to spend $20.

Perhaps it is possible to remap the Fn Key:
