I have Verizon FIOS for my internet access and TV cable.   My current set-up (if I’m correct) is as follows:

The FIOS ONT connects via coax cable to a splitter

The splitter connects via Coax cables to the Verizon G1100 Router AND to the TIVO DVR

The Verizon Router is connected via Ethernet cables to the LinkSys VOIP device, the desktop PC computer and to the TIVO DVR

As you can see I don't have a local LAN (see attached photo).

Currently the Verizon G1100 with one Wifi booster meets all our home's internet and TV needs, however, to save the Verizon router rental fees I want to purchase a router.

It appears I need one that has an input Coax jack - UNLESS there is an Ethernet work around.   Please offer up some suggests on what router I should buy and how to set it up.

If you don't mind a used or refurbished router you can get a G1100 on Ebay or Amazon:

RKinner,

Thank you.  I considered that, but I also wanted to explore other, perhaps better, options.  If most routers don't have a coax jack, I'm not sure how they work.  I guess they use an Ethernet cable for both TV and Internet.  Is my setup better???

I found this:

So you can use just about any router as long as you can live without the Coax.  But I suspect that's how you get your TV & the Tivo probably needs it too.

"What if I have Verizon Fios TV?

Here’s where using your own router with Verizon Fios can be an issue. Most routers will not be compatible with your Verizon Fios TV service. As a result, your channel guide, On Demand and other Verizon Fios TV functions may not work properly. Additionally, TVs connected via Fios TV One Minis may not work at all.

To ensure you have a seamless internet and TV experience, Verizon recommends you use either the Fios Advanced Wi-Fi Router (Actiontec MI424WR Rev I) or the Fios Quantum Gateway Router (Verizon G1100). Both routers are available for purchase or rental through Verizon."

Thanks for the info.   I think it best for me to stick with the Verizon FIOS router.
