Hi, Mark.

For your computer

Please take a screenshot when you get the BitLocker message.

For the other computer

Please go on for the steps in my previous message and post the screenshots.

Start in normal mode.

While in normal mode:

  • Press Windows icon on your Desktop, together with the letter R.
  • Type cmd, and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to run Command Prompt as administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following command line and press Enter.
manage-bde -status

Please take a screenshot about what you get.

Mark, have you tried the above in safe or normal mode? Make sure to do it in safe mode. What happens then? Can I see a screenshot after executing the command?

Ok,

when you wanted me to run the cmd prompt to get the STATUS ... you told me to run it in normal mode. I did. When you told me to run the -OFF prompt, I ran it in normal mode, because you didn't specify. However, I am still not able to get to safe mode because of bitlocker ... the screens would be the same as the one in #19 above ... nothing is different.

I see. You can't get into safe mode at all, because of the Bit Locker. Let me then see a screenshot of what you get when you run the command manage-bde -off Cin normal mode.

The screenshot shows that BitLocker is now OFF.

To ensure this, let's see the status with the previous command:

  • Press Windows icon on your Desktop, together with the letter R.
  • Type cmd, and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to run Command Prompt as administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following command line and press Enter.
manage-bde -status

Please take a screenshot about what you get.

So this time I was able to bypass bitlocker ... however when I get to the screen to sign in under safe mode, it asks for a PIN number ... now I'll have to contact the owner of the laptop to get the PIN, if she actually knows it.

sorry for the mess up

I'm sorry, Mark. Isn't this YOUR computer?

NECESSARY ADDITION:

You said here:

With my friend's computer moving slow I started by downloading on my computer and transferring to hers the programs etc... that you wanted me to run. However, with ESET it was a link and I tried to simply go to their site and download it on my own and run it ... wrong idea on my part. Now ESET's program is installed and asking me for purchase/license information ... and I'm not sure how to get rid of it.

After that, I thought that you installed Eset in your computer and that's why I was giving instructions about "your computer" and the "problematic computer". And you didn't correct me at any point!

Please, for avoiding any misunderstanding, make clear every thing you report here, with any necessary detail.

So we are talking about one computer or two now?
