 Windows has checked the file system and found no problems.

 

 

Hopefully that`s a good sign, time will tell when you try updating Windows 7 again, make sure that the computer has been restarted before you do and let it sit for a while to see if it auto updates first.

Sorry to report I shut down and restarted the computer, let it sit for a while, and then manually did a Windows Update. Here's the recent update history.

Nothing to lose by trying the Windows 10 ISO again I suppose, other than that all you have is using the notebook as it is and trying DBAN to wipe the drive and then running the Windows 10 ISO.

Windows ISO hung up on "Making sure you're ready to install" for about 12 hours.

Lets give it a try. I think I have everything backed up a couple of different ways. I did a windows back up and I am updating that right now. I also copied the documents, pictures, music, videos etc. to an external drive. I have about a three month old system image. I think if worse comes to worse I could install that and then restore from my back ups. Let me know if this does not sound logical. I know that would all be Windows 7. Lets erase the drive and try to install windows 10. Thanks very much again for all the help.

OK, the DBAN is running. It says time remaining is just over 11 hours. After that is finished do I just run the windows ISO? Thanks again.

DBAN Finished running and it said it did so successfully. It said to press any key to continue which I did and now there’s an advertisement on for some of their other products. Wondering what I have to do next. Do I need to format the drive or do I just run the windows ISO?
