I am trying to factory reset my 1998 thinkpad and the start up page is black with a lock icon on the front. 2 days ago, I was able to get into the setting and now I can't.
any suggestions please !!

Couple of problems with this thread DR M;
The computer dates back to 1997/98 and is therefore regarded as being obsolete.
Any GTG Windows OS forum that predates Windows 8/8.1 have been retired.
The OP is asking for help with getting around a password and so cannot be assisted in any event I`m afraid
