Hello,

I have Lenovo Ideacentre A340-22IWL computer and its running very slow. Its using HDD and I want to upgrade it to M2.

ScreenShot_20211030153738.jpeg

I took this picture from the internet, for demonstration only.

My computer's M2 slot is still empty.

Once I installed the M2, Is it okay not to remove the HDD and make it as storage backup then the M2 as my primary?

When Installing the OS (windows 10), do I need to change something in the BIOS?

Thanks in advance and im sorry if im using the wrong terms.

Hello JoMalig,

Example compatible M2 devices here

You can use the present HDD for storage but you will need to do a clean install of Windows 10 and the system drivers first.

You will need a couple of USB thumdrives, an 8GB or above one for a Windows 10 ISO and one smaller one to save the system drivers to.

Ordinarily I would have suggested cloning the HDD to the SSD but being aware of your previous thread regarding how slow the computer was and where I asked you about possible Lenovo bloatware, you unfortunately never got back to me.so will not suggest cloning here in case you end up cloning a load of Lenovo bloat that slows down the SSD.

This is also where I checked.

Yes it would be a clean install since as what I mentioned in my previous thread, I down graded the computer to Windows 8.1.

Sorry if I did not get back to you on my previous post.

I don't think there were bloatwares because I clean intalled Windows 8.1 and installed only software that I need.

Thanks thanks

Many drives like Samsung etc come with migration software so you may not need anything else but worth taking a look at is 3. Free Download Disk Cloning Software to Clone Hard Drive to M.2

No worries and if you are sure that there is no Lenovo bloatware slowing down your computer cloning is the way you should go.

You are welcome  :)
