I changed my passwords almost immediately after my phone conversation with "Sam" ended on the advice of my best friend.

Now when I click on the icon that looks like a dog-eared tiny sheet of paper with Word, Excel, Publisher, etc. next to it I get a different error dialogue box... https://www.dropbox....merror.png?dl=0

There are no other Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. icons to choose from apart from OneNote.  The only way I'm able to access Office programs is through this Office on the web thing.  Here is an example of what I see in the start menu... https://www.dropbox....xample.png?dl=0

I understand that it has been more than 180 days since I got the computer.  The subscription I purchased was for one year.  Again, I am able to gain access to Office programs if I click on the box in the right hand corner of the start menu that reads Office.

After that, sign in to your Microsoft account and check about your subscription: Find out when your Microsoft 365 subscription expires

Here is what I see when I click the the box that reads Office in the upper right hand quadrant of the start menu...https://www.dropbox....xample.png?dl=0

I haven't tried clicking the box that reads "Install Office".

When I click on the the program icons in the left menu a blank document, spreadsheet, etc. opens in a browser window... https://www.dropbox....xample.png?dl=0

When I look in the subscriptions section of my Microsoft account there are no subscriptions.  I see this at the bottom of the subscriptions page... https://www.dropbox....onpage.png?dl=0

I suppose the documents I am able to open and save must be part of this free services from Microsoft.  I don't understand why they offer them for free when you have to pay for a subscription to Office.

I don't know if this is useful, but I made a copy of the invoice I received from Lenovo in my email.  It shows my year subscription purchase and when it offered the discounted price for 365 with the laptop purchase it did not state anywhere that there was any stipulation on when I had to first sign in to use it on my computer.  https://www.dropbox.com/s/b8gky12w3o783o0/ideapadinvoice.png?dl=0

A last question for today, Karolion.

Were you ever able when you bought the computer and after to open Office applications not in the browser?

No.  When I would click on that box that reads Office it would prompt me to sign in to my account and I guess since I was using my phone number rather than an email address it didn't recognize me.  I didn't need an Outlook email so I opted not to create another email account.

To confirm:

There are bllank icons beside the Office apps (Word etc.) when you click on Start. Was this different before? You could see the apps icons when you bought the computer? If yes, when did change?

Is there a Microsoft 365 program in the program list when you click the Start icon? If yes, what happens when you click on it?

Could you contact the store you bought the computer to ask about your subscription? I find strange 2 things: the 180 days warning and that there are no subscriptions shown under your account.

Sorry I am late checking in.  I didn't receive an email that you'd replied.  I don't always get an email when you reply, but it is the weekend and you've been so kind to help me that I don't want to seem impatient.  I suppose you wouldn't have any way of knowing that though.

Yes, there are blank icons beside the Office apps in the Start menu.  I can't swear to it, but I don't think they were always there or when that changed.

The only place I see a Microsoft 365 program is list of apps.  I haven't clicked on it because of the date next to it.  I didn't install that app or modify it on that date.  The date I spoke with "Sam" is 9 Nov, 2021.  Here is an image of where I see the Microsoft 365 app... https://www.dropbox....oftapp.png?dl=0

I bought the laptop from Lenovo online.  I have contacted them and am waiting for a call back.

What are the option when you click on Microsoft 365? Any option for repair?

The only options available are "Modify" and "Uninstall".

Click on Modify and then choose Repair if that is available.
