Earlier this year I bought a new computer with two hard drives. One a solid state drive and one a regular. I have like 5 big programs on the SSD: Photoshop, Bridge, Creative Cloud, Acrobat, and Windows 10 (plus some smaller ones). I've been getting notifications that my drive is almost full. I looked and have about 25gb of free space available. The SDD is 220 GB. The four adobe programs take up about 6gb total. This means that Windows 10 is eating up roughly 180gb of my SDD. I ran WinDirStat and here are the top files in size for the SSD.

 

 

Even looking at this it says my SDD only has about 55GB on it. But when I do a properties check on the C drive it says that I have 198gb used. The adobe photo editing products are on the SSD but the pictures all live on the other drive.

I emptied the temp files and the recycle bin. My amount of used space increased to 200gb used.

Those didnt work. Based on an earlier post in that thread I ran TreeSize and I found that there is a 52gb file in my System Volume Information folder and that the entire thing takes up 139.6gb.

Do you still need help with this?

System Volume Information contains files you do not want to mess with.

Check how many System Restore points you have and try to delete as many as you can.

 

If this was mine I would then buy a 1TB drive and clone the current C: drive and replace it.

Windows 10 will only get bigger and I assume Windows 11 will be the same.

Thanks for replying. I was able to solve this a few days ago. Turns out I had 140gb of restore points. Not knowing how many restore points I need or how much space I need to dedicate to them I cut that number by 90%. My SSD now sits at 60gb full and I could easily lower that by dropping the restore point % even lower.
