Name: PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller
Description: PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller
Class Guid:
Manufacturer:
Service:
Problem: : The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

I think this is part of an AMD chipset driver.  Not sure what it does but it sounds security related so probably best to get the driver for it.  If your PC maker doesn't offer one on their support website you can get one from https://www.amd.com/en/support

Let's run a fixlist to check your system files.  Should take about 25 minutes on a normal system tho I have seen it take up to an hour on a really slow one.  Will reboot when done.

Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST

Attached File  fixlist.txt   1.89KB   179 downloads

Run FRST (Right click and run as admin) and press Fix
A fix log will be generated please post that

Reboot if the fix doesn't reboot it for you

That is strange.....must be part of an update. This thing has an intel.

Have not set up the boot off of flash drive yet.

Will run fixlist.

Hang on, task bar has locked up. Something is going on.

Windows search locked up the task bar. Was using it to find that controller. It tried to find it online and I had shut down the network. Anyway the fixlist was ran.

That controller has always been a pain. By the time the main computer went down and this one started to get some use there were no drivers for it. Could just uninstall it, it's not doing anything.

Windows Defender offline down loads and files get loaded. It always stops with an error. Says that there is a problem with the usb drive. It's brand new. Tried another computer and the same thing happens.

Might have been a bad download but try running

chkdsk /r  X:

where X is the drive letter assigned to the USB.

0 bad sectors

What do you think about uninstalling the PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller?

Did an sfc scan and it found corrupted files. It didn't fix all of them.

You might want to redownload the program and redo the usb.  It is not uncommon to get a bad download.

I think it might be better to just disable the PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller first and see if that makes any difference.

There is a program SFCFIX that will use fix the corruption but you might want to look to see what the problem is first.  Sometimes it is nothing important.

Attached fixlist will rerun sfc /scannow to make sure the info is still in the cbs.log then it will print out the results of the scan and tell us what is wrong.

Attached File  fixlist.txt   148bytes   163 downloads

SFCFIX is here with instructions:

I did disable the PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller some time ago.

Will try the fixlist again, didn't do it right this time. Log was there, but was not able to save it.

Not sure what is going on with the Windows Defender Offline download. Tried it a few times on this computer(even did both the 32 and the 64). Can try the 64 on the other computer as only the 32 was tried.

I wonder if there is a different version for Win 8.1.

Does this give you the same downloads?

That is the same page. Used the win7/win8 download. Could something I have on here be blocking it? Or could it be a setting?

Would the cbs notepad be useful? Was able to see the log on it the first time sfc/scannow ran. It did say that the log was not available, but after running the command listed the notepad opened. The thing is that I can't seem to find it in a search. Pretty sure that it would show up again and it could be posted here.

Ok...the file is a bit too big at 7MG. Any other options?

IF we are talking the sfc /scannow and its log then just download the attached fixlist

Attached File  fixlist.txt   148bytes   156 downloads

to the same folder as FRST.  Bring up FRST (remember to right click and Run as Admin) and then hit Fix.  You will get one log (in about 15 minutes).  Post the log.
