I would send it to be recycled personaly but i would say 2000 would be your best bet mind you there wont be much that will run on that pc anyway.

Believe me, I'm not trying to run anything brand sparkling new. If I wanted to do that I'd go out and buy a new computer. I got the machine for free and figured I'd try to get some use out of it. I'm just trying to optimize its abilities without spending a lot of money. Office work, e-mail, maybe a few old school games (Starcraft...will it run on ME? or just NT/95/98). It's not like I'm trying to play Halo on this clunker. [bleep], I might as well keep ME on it. Unless I can get 2000 for free somewhere..

Well im sure you could get it for free, but if thats all you want to do with it dont put windows on it at all. Get linux, Suse sounds a good one and its free with a gui quite similar to windows.
Linux doesnt need as much power to run so get that to maximise what you will get out of your machine.
Its really not worth spending any money on, it will be pretty old and some of the components are probably reaching the end of their lifetime, components werent made to the same quality in the olden days.
