anti virus gold adware and extras [CLOSED]

hi there i was lookin for a keygen an ended up downlaoding an activex control thing
next thing i know, internet explorer is fully messed up, when i search for something, ie a way to fix my problem, it just comes up with [bleep] i have switched to firefox and it seems ok so im guessin it was just IE that was infected :S

next problem, a small red circle witha white cross in it it the bottom right bit by the clock, pops up sayin i am infected and need virus software called anti virus gold

next thing i know, my desktop has changed 2 a black screen whit more warnings and a link to the anti virus gold website

the last and biggest problem is that my recycle bin seems 2 be somehow infected, as when i delete a file it dissapears but i do not gain any disc space
seing as i was editing some rather large 5gb files and deleted them afterwards, i am left with 400 mb of hard disc left as the space was not recreated when i deleted the files, although the have gone from the bin

i have used norton antivirus but it hasnt helped

ok need to add, i went back on google with firefox and it still comes up with [bleep] links etc

i just remembered summit else that happened, it seems to have erased the system restore log as i tryed to restore but the only date wat 4 in the morning the day after i got the b*****d infection

if anyone has any ideas, reccomendations, fixes, kind words of support they would be most appreciated and i thank you in advance :'(
