Hi Guzzler,

Lets back up your registry first.

Go to Start > Run - type:

regedit

Click OK.

When you get into the registry, on the leftside, click to highlight My Computer at the top. Then go up to "File > Export" Make sure in that window there is a tick next to "All" under Export Branch. Leave the "Save As Type" as "Registration Files", then save it as backup to a convenient location. Remember where you put it (I don't recommend putting it on the desktop) This is so the registry can be restored to this point should anything be deleted by accident or something else happens. It may take a minute. Just let it go until it's done.

Launch Notepad, and copy/paste the box below into a new text file. Save it as fixme.reg (make sure that Save as Type is set at "All Files") on your Desktop. Ensure there is no space at above Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop]
"NoChangingWallpaper"=-
"NoComponents"=-
"NoAddingComponents"=-
"NoDeletingComponents"=-
"NoEditingComponents"=-
"NoHTMLWallPaper"=-

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoDriveTypeAutoRun"=-
"NoActiveDesktop"=-
"ClassicShell"=-
"ForceActiveDesktopOn"=-

Locate fixme.reg on your Desktop and double-click on it. You will receive a prompt similar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry?". Answer "Yes" and wait for a message to appear similar to "Merged Successfully".

reboot

Let me know how this works for you

Guzzler,

After you do that previous step, please do the following.

Launch Notepad, and copy/paste the box below into a new text file. Save it as fixme2.reg (make sure that Save as Type is set at "All Files") on your Desktop. Ensure there is no space at above REGEDIT4

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoDriveTypeAutoRun"=dword:00000091
"ClassicShell"=dword:00000000

Locate fixme2.reg on your Desktop and double-click on it. You will receive a prompt similar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry?". Answer "Yes" and wait for a message to appear similar to "Merged Successfully".
