last night when i turned on my comptuer it seems that all my file associations are gone so all the icons, programs, and files wont run correctly unless i do open with and find the program manually for it to run.

i tried to restart and put in the windows xp reinstallation cd hoping to repair the problem but it says pci.sys is corrupted and wont let me install or repair.

Does anyone have any clue as to why i'm having this problem? is it due to a virus, trojan or spyware?

also i'm in the mirc #geekstogo channel so if you could come in and chat it would probably make the process go a lot faster. hope to hear from you guys soon.
