Downloaded Norton 2005 can't access Windows 2000

Can anyone help me?
I am desperate. I downloaded Norton Antivirus 2005.
To my knowledge it downloaded completely. Icons
are there etc. Can not access this Antivirus Program.
But now I can not access anything on the computer
except the internet and that is on occasion.
Now I can not access my the control panel or the
Add and Remove Programs etc.
Everytime I try to reboot and go back in it seems to
get worse. I am reciving a common error message
whenever I attempt to access any program etc
Application error OXC0000142 Tsupdate_4_0_3_9b2.exe
or another error was the same except after the first part
was CCAPP.exe.
Does any of this make sense to anyone???
I know my way around a little but this is beyond me.
I am desperate. I would appreciate any help in this
matter.
