For the past few days, ads1.revenue.net ads have been popping up every 30-45 seconds. I followed all of the steps to help before posting, but they're still here. Here is my HJT log and I appreciate any help given! Thanks!

Hi JJG1015 and welcome to GeeksToGo! My name is Excal and I will be helping you.

I can see that you have some malware issues. This maybe a few step process in removing it. I encourage you to stick with it and follow my directions as closely as possible so as to avoid complicating the problem further.

Please download FindQoologic from here:
http://forums.net-in...=post&id=134981
Save it to the desktop and run Find-Qoologic2.bat. This will generate a log file; please post the entire contents of the log file here for me to see.

Thanks,

Launch Notepad, and copy/paste the box below into a new text file. Save it as fixme.reg (make sure that Save as Type is set at "All Files") on your Desktop. Ensure there is no space at above REGEDIT 4.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\gfxxkqqm]

Locate fixme.reg on your Desktop and double-click on it. You will receive a prompt similar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry?". Answer "Yes" and wait for a message to appear similar to "Merged Successfully".

Just a few random bad files to clean up.
  • Open HiJackThis
  • Click on the configure button on the bottom right
  • Click on the tab "Misc Tools"
  • Click on "Delete File on Reboot"
  • Navigate to this file - C:\WINDOWS\System32\gykxkfny
  • Double click on that file.
  • HJT asks you if you want to reboot, now. Click "yes".
After reboot, run FindQoologic.bat again.

Excal, I followed all of the above steps and everything worked great, but when I was working in HJT, I couldn't find this file: C:\WINDOWS\System32\gykxkfny.

I ran FindQoologic.bat again and here's the new log:

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL FILES FOUND BY THIS METHOD ARE NOT BAD FILES, There WILL be LEGIT FILES LISTED PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHILE FIXING. IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF WHAT IT IS LEAVE THEM ALONE.

hi JJG1015,

I noticed that your HiJackthis.exe is located on your desktop, make sure to save HijackThis in its own folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This is very important, so HiJackThis can save backups!

DOWNLOAD PROGRAMS

Download and install CleanUp! Here*NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.
We will use this program later.

THE FIX

Please read this post completely, it may make it easier for you if you copy and paste this post to a new text document or print it for reference later.

1. Click this link to be sure you can view hidden files.

2. Ensure you are NOT connected to the internet.

3. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

4. Close all browsers, windows and unneeded programs.

5. Open HiJack and do a scan.

6. Put a Check next to the following items:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
O2 - BHO: Cas - {B5F3970B-745E-46AC-B890-E08F69777D80} - C:\WINDOWS2\System32\ca2.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BMan] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS2\Application Data\msw\BMan1.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [98D0CE0C16B1] rundll32.exe D0CE0C16B1,D0CE0C16B1
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cfgmgr52] RunDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS2\cfgmgr52.dll,DllRun
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS2\System32\krppum.exe reg_run
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Qnfgs] C:\WINDOWS2\System32\??sembly\regsvr32.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Yjk] C:\WINDOWS2\System32\F?nts\javaw.exe

7. click the Fix Checked box

8. Please remove the following folders using Windows Explorer (if present):

C:\WINDOWS2\System32\??sembly
C:\WINDOWS2\System32\F?nts
[/B]

9. Please remove just the files from the following paths using Windows Explorer (if present):

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS2\Application Data\msw\BMan1.exe
C:\WINDOWS2\System32\ca2.dll
C:\WINDOWS2\System32\krppum.exe
C:\WINDOWS2\cfgmgr52.dll
D0CE0C16B1<=====use start>search to find this

10. Run the program CleanUp!

11. Reboot into normal mode and please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan - Save the results from the scan!

12. Please post the Active scan log and a fresh HiJackThis log. Let me know how your computer is running.

hi JJG1015,

Well you seem to be one of the lucky ones to get the new and improved varient of narrator infection. The only want to clear this right now, is to run activescan to identfy the problems, then killbox them. Sometimes this may take up to 3 times (on some occasions more) to clear them, so please be patient and follow all directions.

Please download the Killbox.

Please remove the following folders using Windows Explorer (if present):

C:\Program Files\sf
C:\WINDOWS2\System32\FLEOK
C:\Program Files\CasStub
C:\Program Files\t9ryv8ci

Please run Killbox.
  • Select "Delete on Reboot".
  • Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:
