Ok here's my set up...I have a brand new Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard (939 pin), Athlon 64 3800 CPU, HIS X800 video card, matched set of OCZ High Performance PC 3200 DDR 512MB x2, Vantec Stealth 520W PS....the rest shouldn't matter except that my hard drive is a 300 GB SATA...the board needs the drivers installed for the SATA drive during my install of windows no problem yet big problem...I can't get the system to recognize the floppy which is new...I can get it (the floppy light) to come on and stay on with the ribbon cable on wrong but when I turn it around to the proper direction the drive won't work. I checked the BIOS and the floppy is enabled...tried several different cables and even three other floppies that I know are working properly bust still no go. I really need the drive to get my SATA drivers installed so windows knows it's there...any suggestions other then a hammer and beating the floppy to a pulp... <_<

Other then the floppy every other drive is being recognized and the system seems to be working just fine.

Sounds like you have a bad floppy ribbon cable, or a bad floppy controller on your mobo. :D

P.S. NICE system! <_<

I tried two new floppies plus I hooked one up that is working in a curent system. I also tried 3 brand new cables. Oddly enough I put the cable back on the one I was having trouble with then smacked the darn thing...guess what now it's working fine and all is well with the new system. Who knows maybe when I smacked the thing the cable seated itself properly, either way it's still working <_<

I hope it will last for at least a year before I do any more upgrading...and for now from what I've read it should be able to hold up under most of the software I'll be using on it ie. Photoshop, Doom III, and Half Life 2 if it ever hits the store shelves. With it having the 939 pin socket and when the Athlon 64Fx's drop in price I may move up then or there's plenty of room for more RAM and hard drive expansion.

Thanks for the help....
