My dad's laptop has been completely screwed, and no amount of antispyware scanning is helping it. there is some kind of program called Dr. Watson that is preventing him from doing anything. i cannot access anything, the system just locks up. the funny thing is that i can still get to the windows task manager, and the system seems fine. CPU usage is low, as is RAM usage. it just won't let me do anything, and when i exit out of things or move things around on the desktop, the windows are "ghosting". i have done some research on this forum, and am actually a frequent spyware remover and have become pretty adept at it, but this time i am completely stumped. :tazz:

i cannot access the internet on that laptop due to lockup, so i used another computer to load a bunch of programs (hijackthis, killbox, smitfraud.reg, thehoster, cleanup, etc.) onto a USB flash drive, but this proves to be futile since i can't access the USB drive on the laptop because My Computer refuses to run. therefore, i have been unable to run even hijackthis to post a logfile. there are 2 suspicious processes in the task manager, dwwin.exe and drwatson32.exe.

i need the computer in less than a week, because i will be taking it to college. without it, i will be without a computer. ;)

thanks again for helping!

-edit-

i forgot to mention that windows explorer continuously crashes. could this be a smitfraud infection?

finally managed to get a hijackthis logfile. here it is.
