New drive is a Seagate 80 gbyte, puter was ok before this attempt.
I used the include cd instructions for formatting and partitioning. The system recognizes the hard drive but when I reboot and get to c:\ and attempt to go to my cd rom d drive to setup windows it will not reconize D:\ or at least go there. it does say it sees the Sony CD Rom.
Boot sequence is set cd/c/a.
With win98 boot disc in floppy drive the system still will just go to C:\
on booting I read, boot from floppy atapi cd rom failure when I tried putting win98 cd in there from boot.

I have award bios and mother board going back about 5 years, 64 mb, amd k6 500mhz.

Appreciate any help, thanks

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. What OS are you trying to install? WIN98 or WXP? If it is XP you should boot to the CD with the install cd in place. If it WIN98 and you are using the boot floppy, it needs to have the cd driver included in the boot disk.
