I ran Adaware and found DSSAgent and a browser hijack attempt. Adaware seemed to clean up the DSSAgent but now I can't get Firefox to find any web pages. I always get a message that the url I'm trying to go to is not found. I have a second PC on my home network that has no trouble so I know that the DSL router is connecting to the internet just fine. When I look at the wireless network connection properties it appears to be connected properly. Can anyone please help me with this. Here is a Hijack This! log:

While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.

• Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
• In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
• Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
• Expand the "Tools" menu.
• Click "Resident".
• Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
• In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

I ran Hijack this and tried to remove the entry you mentioned. I tried it in both normal and safe mode but it kept coming back. I should mention that I'm able to connect to the internet if I turn off my Norton firewall.

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.

• Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
  
• AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
  
• SpywareBlaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.
  
• SpywareGuard - Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.
  
• IE-SpyAd - puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
  
• CleanUP! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.
  
• Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
  
• Google Toolbar - Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows.
  
• Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)

Great Question! The O23 does not see to be causing any issues at this time. You may remove it in HiJackThis if you wish, but at this time I do not see a need to fix it.

How is your system working?

My system seems to be okay for now. I had to turn off Norton firewall to be able to connect to the internet. I tried using Norton's on-line help to allow me to turn the firewall back on but didn't have any success.

Well the good news about that is...It is the norton firewall, since turning it of letsyou get on the internet. Fool around with the settings a bit and see if you can get it working.

Im not a fan of norton, I would uninstall it, and get AVG (if you want free), Kaspersky or NOD32 (The last two require payment).

Again, these are just my personal opinions, you dont have to do them =). Below are some anti spyware tips as well. I will leave this open for a day or so, incase you have any more questions.
