Thing is you downloaded the pay for version. AVG still has the free version. Uninstall all the AVGs you have in the Add/Remove programs list, then reinstall AVG Free:

In the future to update it:
1. Double-click the AVG icon near your clock
2. Press the "Update Manager" tab at the top
3. Then simply press the "Update Now" button near the bottom-right.
AVG will begin downloading updaes (if available), then load the updates into its virus database. Once it's finished doing that, click the "OK" (or similar) button at the bottom of the loading screen.
Have fun.

What is a good free anti virus program, i used to have avg but when i updated it to the version 7 it turned into a 30 day trial
IMO, norton is the best. 68,000+ viruses it looks for. McAfee seems to be popular too, but it just has way too many supporting programs that eat up precious ram. Norton only has a few(5 or so for NAV 2004, 2005 might have less, dunno)
