I have a PowerBook owned by a school I am leaving. It controls an iPod that I own. How can I save my library differently or otherwise help Windows media player recognize the music. I have already saved the whole library on an external hard drive and I tried to open the files with Windows media player, and it didn't seem to work.

Try iTunes for Windows, also, depending on how the files were saved (did you download them from Apple iTunes, or rip them with it?) I believe Apple has a proprietary format... When in doubt, Google it...
Yeah... try iTunes for Windows 1st...
