Win ME install on formatted HD w/1-drive laptop?

I formatted my hard drive and need to install ME from the original CD, but my fujitsu laptop has one drive bay that can hold either the floppy or CD drive, but not both at once. I can boot with DOS floppy, but CD drive is not recognized. I've not been able to create a bootable CD that works. I have a 2nd CD drive on USB but also have not been successful trying USB drivers on the boot floppy. Has anyone installed ME from a single-drive bay laptop?

Have you checked your BIOS to see if it has options for booting from CD or USB (may be other devices). If so, try moving them up in the boot order.
