As you can now tell this is a very difficult infection to get rid of. I really appreciate your patience. the problem we seem to be having is getting rid of the installer, so I am going try and attack that!

Please run Killbox.
  • Select "Delete on Reboot".
  • Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IXM32.DLL
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SJC.DLL
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\HWINK.DLL
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MGSYSTEM.DLL
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\lkfil11n.DLL
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\spelete.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\guard.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IEAccess2.dll

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
  • Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
  • Let the system reboot.
When the system is rebooting, reboot into DOS.

when in dos, do the following:

cd C:\

enter, then:

cd windows

enter, then:

cd system

enter, then:

attrib -r -s -h spelete.dll

enter, then:

del spelete.dll

after that reboot in normal mode and post all logs again.

Thanks,

Hello,
ctrl + alt del reboots, but how do I get into DOS?

If I hit F8, my options are:
1 Normal
2 Logged (\bootlog.txt)
3 Safe
4 Step by Step

Is it one of those?
Thanks

The best way is to make a boot disk and boot from the disc

Unfortunately I can't get my "floppy" drive to work to make the boot disk. It was replaced with a zip drive when I got my computer, and I can't get the program to work correctly. Any other suggestions?

Hi Excal,
My computer is a few years old, a Gateway that came with the software installed. Unfortunately I can't find a boot disk.

If you have a writeable CD rom on that machine, you can boot up to DOS with that also.

If not it can be created from another computer, just by going to that site i gave you.

Doh! I do have a writeable CD. Which version of DOS should I reboot to? Does it make any difference? Thanks so much.

Hi again Excal,
When I try to write to CD, I get the same error message as trying to write to zip disk:

Disk error on Track 0, Head 0
Floppy Error

What a bum computer!
:tazz:

I should be able to burn the CD on another computer. It should work to reboot mine, right?
