System Processes/doggy Game Play

A couple of games I have, Battlefield Vietnam and now Star Wars Battlefront run very choppy on my computer. One place said to do the ctl, alt, delete bit and shut down user processes and leave the system processes. I do that and it is still choppy gameplay. I would like to stop some of the processes like AOL dial and AOL scheduler but I don't know where or how. Also I would like to know what processes are just wasting memory.

My graphics card is a Gforce 4 MX 64mb. Is there a way to boost its output? I love these two games but the gameplay is causing me not to want to play. Other games like Day of Defeat, Call of Duty and Medal of Honor are fine.

Any other suggestions and directions on what I can do to fix this problem and speed up the computer? Thanks

Well first of all you can go into the options of aol or pretty much any program and stop it from starting up with windows. Check your startup folder and see what is in there also. You can get rid of anything that is starting up that you don't actually need to be running all the time. Next download Hijack This by clicking on it in my signature and scan your pc with it. Save a log, copy it and paste it back here so we can see what you have running on your pc. Lets get this pc flyin again!

What are all the things McAffe is doing at startup? Looks like there's alot of stuff starting up that is probably not necessary, therefore eating up your memory for gaming.

Sorry, lets try this again. The McAffee stuff is NOT in the startup menu. And there is NO more Symatec stuff installed (ie. Norton Security, Firewall, etc...) McAffee programs that are installed are Spamkiller, Virus Protection, Internet Security/Firewall, and Privacy Service. Steam is for Day of Defeat.

Well, everything I can see looks legit. You do have a toolbar that could be removed, but I know It won't interfere with gameplay. My suggestion would be to disconnect from the internet, and if you have a broadband connection go to your network connections and disable the network so you cannot possiblly have any traffic. Then disable all the McAfee programs that start up....everything. It looks like McAfee is probably taking up alot of necessary resources you need to game in style. Then make sure everything else is closed and start gaming. Also your Video Card might just simply need more memory than 64mb. Check the requirements. The reason I say to disconnect from the internet is because you don't want to be left vulnerable while your firewall is down. I will also check with the other staff members about your log and will get back to you soon.

Ok, got some news. First of all you should check for an updated nvidia driver next check to see if you have the latest version of Directx 9c is the newest version I believe. Alst try setting your resolution to 800x600. This should smooth out your gameplay. Let us know.
