Hi..A couple of days ago I started getting this msg when I start up my PC..

WrOS.exe Application failed to initialize properly

At the same time certain internet connectivity programs such as VPN stopped working. Has anyone come across this before? Here is my Hijackthis log. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I am unable to connect to my mainframe application.

Thanks, Amrita

Your VPN has lost a file or can not find it, attempting to reinstall should fix it, upon futher problems you may wish to contact your ISP about this issue.

If they didn't give you a install for your VPN, you should contact them to continue using it.

I have 1 question, can you get onlone?

Hi Mycah,

Thanks for responding. I tried contacting our systems people and they were not much help. I did try reinstalling VPN and that didnt solve the problem. Do you think I need to reinstall my DSL software? Although I have no problems with AOL or Internet explorer and can get online with no problems. Are you familiar with this WrOS.exe file is and what it is used for? I'm wondering if this is a situation of malaware. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Amrita

Hi Darth Ash,

Sorry for not responding earlier..I'm a newbie and still not familiar with this..I just scrolled to the bottom and missed your post. I'll try reinstalling the DSL software - thanks so much for your help.

Hi Starjax and Pieter,

Thank you ever SO much for helping me - it has been very frustrating not being able to log onto my mainframe id from home. I have run through step 1 of the Malware removal instructions and I was absolutely amazed at the number of infected files I had! I have Ad-watch and AOl Spyware running in the background and also run Spybot pretty frequently but I dont think I had the right options set. I will get through the other steps tomorrow (actually later today) and get back to you. Again, thanks for your time and effort.

Hi..I went through Steps 1, 2 and 4 of the malware removal instructions. I did not run step 3 since I have Windows2000 and that update seemed to apply only to WindowsXP. Please let me know if there is something else I should do. My VPN is still not working and I still have the WrOS.exe application error. In addition I have trouble shutting down or restarting Windows and have to use the power switch to shut down. Here is my Hijack This log..would great appreciate any help!

Thanks, Amrita
