I have read the uninstaller's user agreement and just can't agree on giving up my personal info to them. Those [bleep]er that works there

I was just wondering if there is a relatively easy way to uninstall it. Trust me, I google searched hard and find no answer that fix my computer what so ever.

If you can help please give me step by step instructions, Thank you very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very much in advance.

One more thing: I think I removed the nail.exe file by just creating a blank, read-only file to replace it. But don't know how to remove it from the registry.

I want this as simple as possible since My most familiar system is Win 98. (am I old already? )

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).

Then, go to Start > Run > and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find System Startup Service.
Rightclick and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK. Exit the Services utility.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Next in Hijack This click on the "Config" button in the lower right corner. In the next window click on the "Misc Tools" button at the top then click the "Delete an NT service" button. Copy and paste the following line in that box:

SvcProc

Click OK.

Go to Start > Run and type in cmd

Click OK

This will open a command shell. In the command window Copy and Paste the following commands one at a time exactly as the appear below and hit the Enter key after each one:

Paste this:

del C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Hit Enter.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following(if found):

ydt
3721(Only delete this if you do not know what &Use Yahoo Downloader is)

Exit Add/Remove Programs.

Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files/folders in bold (if found):

My computer is working great for two days now.

But one of my buddy who fried his HD said that aurora resurfaced in his computer after half a month of inactivity. Hope this don't happen to me.

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Detect and Remove Programs:

• How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
• How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.

Prevention Programs:

• Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
• Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
• IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
• MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
• Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.

Other necessary Programs:

• AntiVirus Program<= An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
• Firewall<= A firewall is definatley a must have. Two good free versions are Sygate and ZoneLabs.
• More Secure Browser<= Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox, however Opera and SlimBrowsers are good as well.

I don't need the google bar and IE/spyad if I use FireFox, right?

My subscription to McAfee is over, should I just uninstall(McAfee isn't great when I had the subscription anyway).

Hello hongfu_chen,

You don't need them, but it is a good idea to keep them. I use firefox, but I still kept them anyways. Occasionally you run across some things that only work properly on IE.

You can uninstall McAfee, just make sure to install an anti-virus program right after. I recommend AVG Free, which you can download from this website.
