Hello you guys. I am having a problem, I tried to go to the chat and get an answer, and someone told me to download HijackThis and post the log here. Before i do, i just want to let you guys know that my Aim, Napster, Collab, cant connect to the internet, or the servers that it has to connect to. Yet i do have internet access. All the program that require Access to a server dont work. can i please get some help?

oh and before i forget, i am in a laptop running XP Home Edition, i also have 2 other Desktops that are connected to the same network, and there are no problems with them. The laptop is the only one with this issue.

First, download, install, and run CleanUp! (so the scan won't take as long because cleanup will clear temporary files and cookies) *NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.

Then, please run this online virus scan:
ActiveScan

Save the results from ActiveScan.

Copy the results from ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log.

Please download Ewido Security Suite
  • Install ewido security suite
  • Launch ewido, there should be a big E icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  • The program will prompt you to update click the OK button
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Click on Start
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • Reboot into Safe Mode, you can do this by restarting your computer, then contiunally tapping F8 until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter. Then, run Ewido.
  • Click on scanner
  • Make sure the following boxes are checked before scanning:
    • Binder
    • Crypter
    • Archives
  • Click on Start Scan
  • Let the program scan the machine
While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean the first infected file it finds. Choose "clean", then put a check next to "Perform action on all infections" in the left corner of the box so you don't have to sit and watch Ewido the whole time. Click OK.

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report
  • Save the report to your desktop
Reboot into normal mode.

I need you to post the log from Ewido and a new HiJackThis log.

Sorry about that! I had a "duh" moment there! I forgot about you having problems with programs connecting :tazz:

Let's try this one:

MWav eScan

Download it, double-click mwav.exe, then unzip it. on the main page leave everything checked and put a check next to "drive", then click "scan clean". While the scan is in progress, there will be a window listing infected items. When it's done, please highlight the items in that window, then press CTRL+C to copy it then paste it here.

If you're still having problems with your programs connecting, I'm going to have a moderator move this topic to another forum where they will be able to help with your problem. On the bright side, you're system is clean :tazz:
