Hi,

I was here earlier and thanks to thatman my computer doesn't shut down every 5 minutes. However, when I am burning a CD etc. it shuts down. I ran and active scan and it said the following:

Download the attachment and unzip the file.

Double click on the Regsrch.vbs file. A window will pop up. Type Wintools in the box and hit enter.

It will search ur registry for the keyword and then pop-up the results in a text file.

Chances are that there is some hidden infection on your PC.

I want you to have atleast two online scans done. There are four such sites listed in my signature. Please visit any two and get the scans done.

it's the same adware in the registry that I posted above. I tried running kaspersky and bitdefender but the computer shut down before picking up any files.

so, so far we know its the adware in registry the wintools one .. back to square one i suppose .. im going to run trendmicro now .. will post results

the first virus i ever had on my pc was thru MSN about 3, 4 months back .. i used sysclean to remove it .. but i guess it left this behind! .. oh and this is the new HJT log:

most of the entries look fine to me !!!!

The sheriff > from acudata was probably left behind by "Winconnect Server XP", when it was uninstalled.

Rfa by KSL is the Registry First Aid that I had mentioned to you !!!

Please do not delete / modify any entries because they dont look right to you !!!!!!!!!!! If the software however identifies them by default as keys to be fixed, then do so. Maybe if you create a log file of the Registry scan report and upload it here, I will have a look

but would u have any idea as to what is wrong and which files contain wintools? the files that registry first aid identified as containing wintools, can't I just delete them?

Post the log, I am sure that WinTools will be there in that. We will handle everything at one go ;-)
