Hi there,

Wondering if anyone can help with this one - am really worried that I'm going to lose all my work on the hard drive.

Was surfing last night for about 3 hours or so on the PC and it suddenly just switched itself off and then I couldn't restart it - error message came up saying the boot drive couldn't be found. Do I have to reinstall Win XP using a CD and if I do does this mean I lose all my hard work !

Any advice is very much appreciated!

when you say boot drive could not be found....is that the actuall complete message, or was there more?

Was this a blue screen message, or did it occur on a black screen?

Was there a floppy in the drive?

It sounds like a very nasty harddrive crash, but I need more info
