probably, since you have pro

start > run
gpedit.msc
<enter>

navigate to LOCAL COMPUTER POLICY > USER CONFIGURATION > ADMINISTRATIVE TEMPLATES > START MENU AND TASKBAR and on the right scroll down to LOCK TASKBAR...double click and set it to ENABLE

hmm, different in windows 2000 than xp it is there in xp....

what's the goal here--to stop them from changing it completely, or are you just annoyed that it's different when you turn on a pc?

I wonder because I wonder if it might not be possible to write a script to resize and reseat it at start up.... purely guesswork at the moment....just thinking out lout.

the script would not work because they still would be able to resize itor move it.
