Do i really need this windows XP Service Pack 2 update,,,, is it a must??? I downloaded it twice, both times it totally screwed everything up. Some of my programs had to shut down, 'cause i think, it was the new firewall. It also made my computer ULTRA SLOW,(with an AMD 64 bit) So i deleted it, and now it works fine. Is this alright? for future updates?

P.S. that service pack sucks <_<

SP2 is almost a complete rewrite of XP's kernel. It does have many known problems, especially with newer hardware. About 10% of users have serious issues after installing it. If your one of that 10% keep your system up-to-date with critical updates, but wait a couple months before trying SP2 again.

SP2 is a huge security improvement, and on most systems is actually slightly faster.
