Please help,
I'm not that good with computers! I have just returned from iraq and it appears that her in doors has opened 1 of many *!@!* emails. which i think have messed up my PC. it won't open any virus scanners and when i try to open task manager it closes straight away. read up in a few forums, so tried msconfig and regedit to find the same thing. zonealarm fire wall has turned itself off and won't play either.

I have followed all requested steps, only the TDS-3 would not work (same sketch!)
below is the requested info, if someone could help you could save the wife having to be eternally sorry.

I hope this tool is solving most of the problem.

You need to do an online scan using this computer, you cannot put that on a disk.

Please read your e-mail through webmail for now.

Let's clean this computer first.

Download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop. Don't use it yet.

***

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

***

Open HijackThis
Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {82315A18-6CFB-44a7-BDFD-90E36537C252} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {82315A18-6CFB-44a7-BDFD-90E36537C252} - (no file)

O3 - Toolbar: Wanadoo - {8B68564D-53FD-4293-B80C-993A9F3988EE} - C:\PROGRA~1\Wanadoo\WSBar\WSBar.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [System Configuration] syscfg32.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [System Configuration] syscfg32.exe

O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running.
Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

***

Double-click Killbox.exe to run it.

Select "Delete on Reboot".
Place the following line (complete path) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\syscfg32.exe
Put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot"
Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

***

Let the system reboot back to normal mode.

g2i2r4,

i have a feeling that we are getting close... did as asked and got as far as ´download ewido security suite´

when the system rebooted all was well , zonealarms, symantec AV all fired up and started doing there thing. checked task manager and also seems to be back on line.

opened internet explorer in order to download ewido and was met with
" page cannot be displayed"

also tried in mozilla, it did alot of thinking but was met with blank screen
I tried hoster as previously recommended but to no avail..

back to communicating with the laptop

I can´t thankyou enough for getting me this far. a little more advise would be greatfully recieved.

cheers j.

Let's do this:

Open Spybot and click on Mode and check Advanced Mode
Check yes to next window.
Click on Tools in bottom left hand corner.
Click on System Startup icon.
Uncheck Teatimer box and/or Uncheck Resident.
Click Allow Change box.

If you still see the icon for Spybot Teatimer next to your computerclock, click it and choose exit.

Provided Tea Timer and SpyBot are closed/off:
Download ResetTeaTimer.bat
http://forums.net-in...=post&id=141095
To your desktop, now run ResetTeaTimer.bat.
Then since it will not be needed again delete ResetTeaTimer.bat.

***

* Please rightclick this link to download Silent Runners.
* Save it to the desktop.
* Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
* You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done yet, just let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
* Once you receive the prompt "All Done!", double-click on the new text file on the desktop and copy that entire log and paste it here.

Reboot to safe mode.

Open HijackThis and put a check to this entries:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SNPT513] C:\WINDOWS\vsnpt513.exe

click fix checked and close HijackThis.

Then reboot.

See it you can use the infected computer to go online.

I'm off to bed now (02.22h) as my eyes are squared now :tazz:
I'll check back tomorrow.
