First, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location. Do NOT run this program. This is only to be used if you lose Internet Access after removing NewDotNet.

To Get rid of NewDotNet, go to:

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net)

If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4: NewDotNet Removal Procedure 4.

In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.

Hi, first of all thanks a LOT for helping out, cause i really needed it, but after reading your post i did the following:

download LSPfix.exe, and then i checked the add\remove list for anything "New.net", the thing is i didn't find anything... perhaps i somhow deleted it earlier...

so now do i just proceed to the "Procedure 4" or somthing else?

tnx

Go ahead and post a new HiJackThis log into this topic so I can see if NewDotNet is still there before having you continue with the instructions.

No change, you're still hijacked by NewDotNet. :tazz:

Since New.Net is not in Add/Remove programs please do this:

Go here and follow Procedure 4: NewDotNet Removal Procedure 4.

After using Removal Procedure 4, Download, install, and run CleanUp! (so the below scan won't take as long because cleanup will clear temporary files and cookies) Cleanup! deletes EVERYTHING out of temporary/temp files and does not make backups.

Then, please run this online virus scan:
ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log.

Oh yeah, you must use Internet Explorer to run ActiveScan, it does not support Mozilla - so hopefully you will be able to run ActiveScan after removing New.Net, but let me know if you have any problems running it!

Um... i downloaded the Uninstall6_76 file into a floppy disk, then tried to run it from the start-->run menu, but it didn't work, it says :

"A:\uninstall6_76.exe is not a valid Win32 application."

Nice :tazz:

Ok, please click this link and download it to your desktop:

NewDotNet uninstaller

Double-click uninstall6_76.exe on your desktop and see if it will run that way.

Hey, thanks for the link, it worked.
I restarted my comp after i ran the uninstall6_76, then i cleaned the comp with CleanUp!, but my internet explorer can't open the active scan link, so i can't scan my comp with that...

if you have some other way of scanning it with active scan, do tell, but if not then here is at least the HijackThis log from after the removal :

It looks much better!

Make sure you are disconnected from the Internet and that all programs and windows are closed. Run HijackThis. Place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Service Process] C:\WINXP\system32\config\service.exe

Close HiJackThis.

Set your system to SHOW HIDDEN FILES

Then, Using Windows Explorer, delete the following files, in bold:

BE VERY CAREFUL! ONLY Delete these 2 files out of the "config" folder because there are legitimate system files by similar name inside the system32 folder.

C:\WINXP\system32\config\service.exe
C:\WINXP\system32\config\smss.exe

Then, Please download Ewido Security Suite
  • Install ewido security suite
  • Launch ewido, there should be a big E icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  • The program will prompt you to update click the OK button
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Click on Start
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • Reboot into Safe Mode, you can do this by restarting your computer, then contiunally tapping F8 until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter. Then, run Ewido.
  • Click on scanner
  • Make sure the following boxes are checked before scanning:
    • Binder
    • Crypter
    • Archives
  • Click on Start Scan
  • Let the program scan the machine
While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean the first infected file it finds. Choose "clean", then put a check next to "Perform action on all infections" in the left corner of the box so you don't have to sit and watch Ewido the whole time. Click OK.

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report
  • Save the report to your desktop
Reboot into normal mode.

I need you to post the log from Ewido and a new HiJackThis log.

Fixed the errors on the hijack log, although the WINXP\System32\Config\services.exe could not be fixed totally.

Then i deleted the things you said from windows explorer, and downloaded and updated Ewido.
I restarted into safe mode, scanned ewido and this is the scan log:

Run HiJackThis. Place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

O1 - Hosts: 69.13.186.47 banking.postbank.de
O1 - Hosts: 69.13.186.47 onlineid.bankofamerica.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.13.186.47 meine.deutsche-bank.de

Close HiJackThis.

Then do me a favor...

using Windows Explorer, go into this folder:

C:\WINXP\system32\config

And take a screenshot so I can see the files in it.

You can take a screenshot by pressing "ctrl" and "prt scr" at the same time ("prt scr" is above the "insert" button). Then go to Start > All Programs > Accessories and open "Paint", then go up to Edit > Paste. Save the image. Close Paint. Then click "Add Reply" here - under the text box, click "Browse" navigate to the image you saved and click "Add This Attachment".
