Hi Kat,
thanks for the welcome.
Here is a copy of my post plus my 'Hijack This' log.

I have a problem with something that has been embeded into my computer.
The other day, whilst downloading a file onto my computer, other files downloaded themselves. I did a scan with Pandasoftware and AVG and removed several trojans and infected files. However, I now have on my desktop a large warning that says 'Warning: you are in danger' and urging me to rid myself of all spyware etc. When my mouse pointer goes over this area, it changes to a hand which indicates that it is executable. I executed it and found myself on the site of Antivirus Gold by ICommerce wanting me to buy a copy of their software. In short, nothing I do seems to get rid of this. I also can't change my desktop.
I have emailed them but had, as expected, no reply.
I have used Adaware SE, Registry Mechanic, Hijackthis, CWShredder and various online scanners to no avail. Does anybody know how to resolve this.
I also have on my computer 3 files, they are: a virus called IRC/Backdoor.Flood, a Trojan called HideWindow and another one called IRC/Backdoor.Flood.
These are all in a file in Windows\system32 called rOze.exe and AVG tells me that it cannot be healed. Is there a way of doing this or is it possible to delete rOze.exe? I don't know what this file does.
Thanks for any help,
Pete

Hello PeterS :tazz:

Just a few final steps

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\System\panels\blank.htm
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\System\panels\blank.htm
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{00D6A7E7-4A97-456f-848A-3B75BF7554D7} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zierd32] C:\WINDOWS\System32\kolder.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\dirote.exe

Please reboot into safe mode Safe mode(continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).

Using windows explorer( right click start, left click explore)
Search for and delete these files (if present)
C:\WINDOWS\System32\kolder.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\dirote.exe

Reboot and post a new Hijack log

Hi Loophole,
I have followed your instructions but the desktop hijack is still there.
I also disabled all of the start items in my help and support/tools/system configuration utility/start seeing as spybot wouldn't let me change anything. Any advice on this would be helpful also.
Here is my most recent log.

Hey peter

I'm sorry for some reoson I thought you had your desktop back :tazz:

Download smitRem.zip and save the file to your desktop.
Right click on the file and extract it to it's own folder on the desktop

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:[list=1]
[*]Restart your computer
[*]After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
[*]Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
[*]Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Hi Loophole,
the problem now is that I have lost my Viewsonic monitor drivers and I cannot load them back on, either from the install disk or from a driver I had downloaded off the net.
I have tried both manually and through the 'upgrade driver' in device manager.
Any help here would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Pete

Pete,

I'm back!! Had a severe problem with my internet connection ;)
I believe I am all fixed up now ;)

I don't believe this is Malware related. I am going to get in contact with one of our other experts who should be able to help you.

I will keep you notified.

Thanks,
