Pete,

I'm back!! Had a severe problem with my internet connection ;)
I believe I am all fixed up now :help:
I don't believe this is Malware related.  I am going to get in contact with one of our other experts who should be able to help you.
I will keep you notified.

Thanks,

:tazz:

Hi Gerryf,
I have actually managed to load them up now so no problem - although I did nothing other than what I did this morning!
Interestingly though, I used to have a 'silver' option on my display\appearance\colour scheme which has now dissapeared. Also my internet progress indicator has changed from green vertical bars to a solid blue one. Hardly worth putting any of your time into but interesting nonetheless.
Thank you all for your time and keep up the good work.
Best regards,
Pete
By the way, it interests me that the major antivirus companies have not written a code to cleanup Antivirus Gold seeing as it is a total niusance and it hijacks people onto their own antivirus site.

Hi Excal,
I was told by somebody that xp pro can be made to look like win 2000 or xp pro. I wonder if this is all it is. In which case, where is this setting?
Again, thanks for your support and expertise,
Pete

Open notepad, copy and paste next content (bold) in it:

dir C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Luna /a h > files.txt
notepad files.txt

Save this as look.bat ,choose to save as *all files and save it to your desktop.
Doubleclick on it and notepad will open with some text in it.
Copy and paste this in your next reply.

Sorry for not replying guys but I had a spike which blew the power supply which took me a little while to get to, after which I simply forgot.
Everything is fine now and I'd like to thank you all once again for all your help and such a great service.
All the best,
Pete

Great job, it appears your computer is clean :tazz:

Ensure you rehide your “hidden files and folders” back to the way they were.

Now that your system is Malware Free, it is important to reset your system Restore. Click Here to learn how to.

Might I suggest the following Free Spyware programs, if you don't already have them, for added security, you can download them at the following links. These programs work great for detection:

Ad-aware SE
Spybot S&D
Microsoft Anti-Spyware

If you are unhappy with your current antivirus and want to replace it or if you dont already have one, I suggest one of these free programs:
*Note - do not use more than one anti-virus program as it will more than likely cause conflict.

AVG
Avast
AntiVir

The following free programs are great for prevention:

SpywareBlaster 3.4
Spywareguard
IE/Spyad

A Firewall is a must! Here are 3 good free versions:
(do not have more than one firewall running on your system)

Sygate
Kerio
ZoneLabs

There are other options other than Internet Explorer for a browser, which some say have better security. Two of them are:

Firefox
Opera

If you decide to keep Internet Explorer, This site is a great source for tightening up security on It's settings.

Make sure that you keep your Operating System and IE updated with the latest Critical Security Updates from Microsoft...they usually come out once a month, on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

Be sure and give the Temp folders a cleaning out now and then as well, Make sure after you clean your Temp files to empty out your Recycle bin as well.
For ease use the following program:

Cleanup
Run "Cleanup" and when it has finished, Reboot

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided. Also read How I got Infected
